Guilds are an in-game feature that was introduced to Sea of Thieves in Season 10 as a means to celebrate camaraderie. As this is a social feature, allowing them to embark on exciting multiplayer adventures, players can join, create, or leave a Guild.

While we won't encourage leaving a Guild unless necessary, it does mean saying goodbye to friends and a lifetime of adventures. Nevertheless, we've compiled a guide in our Logbook to help players learn how to leave a Guild in Sea of Thieves.

How Can Players Leave A Guild In Sea Of Thieves?

Guilds are in-game social features that encourage cooperation among players to complete activities and earn rewards. As such, Guilds are the perfect feature for teaming up with friends online and helping others complete their goals, and it's straightforward for players to join and leave a Guild.

Firstly, one Guild can hold up to 24 players with a total of 48 ships sailing together or apart across the Sea of Thieves and progressing towards their Guild's reputation. While joining a Guild is straightforward as it requires an invite, it's just as easy to leave one, which can be done from the Main Menu or in-game.

If they're leaving a Guild to create one, they must be a Captain of their own ship, for which this ship can be pledged for all Guild members to use. From here, they can send invites to players in the prospect of joining before setting sail for their Guild.

So, to exit a Guild, they must be members of one or create one before they leave for greener pastures. They must navigate to the Game Options menu by hitting the View button / ESC key and scrolling down to the Settings option.

Locate the Guild Management tab, where they can view the Guilds they belong to and toggle Guild settings. Highlight and select the Guild they wish to leave by choosing the "Leave" option, and they will successfully exit the Guild.

Leaving a Guild is entirely different from disbanding one, as disbandment transfers ownership to another Guild member. Quite similarly, leaving or disbanding a Guild will result in players losing their Emissary Ledger, Guild Distinction, and Guild Emissary progress and rewards, as these are tied to the Guild feature.
